New York Jets Slight Favorites Over Oakland Raiders In Week 8

The New York Jets and Oakland Raiders are two struggling NFL franchise that appear to be heading in the right direction this season. Both of these teams weren’t expected to be competitive this season but have seemingly turned things around heading into their Week 8 showdown at O.co Coliseum.

According to Sportsbook.ag, the Raiders, despite coming off an impressive win over the division rival San Diego Chargers, will be the underdogs (+2) at home in Week 8. The Jets may have lost a close game against their bitter rivals in the New England Patriots, but they’re still considered to be the better all-around team heading into this matchup.

This matchup between the Jets and Raiders will be a classic showdown between a high-powered offense and a lockdown defense. Oakland is currently ranked 10th in the NFL in terms of point per game at 24.0. New York is actually slightly better in that category at 25.3 points per contest, but most of the Jets’ scoring comes on the defensive side of the football.

Both the Raiders and Jets are battling for playoff position while having undefeated teams ahead of them in their divisions. The Patriots and Broncos are sporting flawless records at 6-0 with no real signs of slowing down, but Oakland and New York gave them a run for their money when they went head-to-head.

With that being said, these teams will aim to continue playing at a high level moving forward while keeping within striking distance in their respective divisions. Although the Jets are arguably the better team heading into this matchup, Oakland will be tough to beat at home, especially coming off a big win over the Chargers in Week 7.

The Raiders may be the safer bet to pull off the upset in Week 8 in Oakland.
