NFC East Week 1 Preview

NFC East Week 1 Preview

Finally, we are done with the preseason.  Admittedly, this has been one of the more exciting preseasons in recent memory, with Tim Tebow, QB battles and controversial fines, however, it was still just the preseason and none of the games really mattered.

That will all change with the kick off of the season on Thursday.  The opening game will feature the Denver Broncos taking on defending Super Bowl Champions the Baltimore Ravens with subsequent games taking place on Sunday and Monday.

We are going to take our attention and focus it on the NFC East for the purpose of this article. Each NFC East team will be clashing with division rivals to open the season.  Each game will also be featured prominently on television as the New York Giants taking on the Dallas Cowboys will be shown during Sunday Night Football on NBC, while the Philadelphia Eagles at Washington Redskins will be one of two games aired during Monday Night Football on ESPN.  Here is a preview of the season openers for NFC East teams.

New York Giants @ Dallas Cowboys

The Giants and the Cowboys game is going to be some solid football action.  Expect there to be a lot of exciting pass plays on both sides of the ball as both Eil Manning and Tony Romo like to air it out.   Statistically, the Cowboys outweigh the Giants in both yards per play and overall passing yards, with the Giants only besting the Cowboys in the rushing-department.  However, the Cowboys are notorious for not being able to translate their great stats into wins.

Betting info has yet to be released but expect the Giants to be favored.

Philadelphia Eagles @ Washington Redskins

This is going to be a fun game to watch.  It has now been confirmed that Robert Griffin III will start against the Eagles.  The Eagles will be running a new Chip Kelly-style offense with Michael Vick at the helm, which means we are likely to see a fast paced game with lots of option, trick and long pass plays.

Betting info has not yet been released, like the previous game, but expect the Redskins to be the favorites.
