49ers’ Jimmy Garoppolo calls Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes ‘real class act’
The San Francisco 49ers and the Kansas City Chiefs will go head-to-head in Super Bowl 54 with two star quarterbacks on the rise in the NFL. Jimmy Garoppolo has gotten out of Tom Brady’s shadow and flourished in San Francisco with the exception of a season marred by a season-ending knee injury.
As for Patrick Mahomes, the reigning NFL MVP has quickly become a household while making a name for himself both on and off the field. Mahomes left quite an impression on Garoppolo after the star quarterback suffered his knee injury last season against the Chiefs and went out of his way to wish him luck after the season-ending injury, via Michael David Smith of Pro Football Talk.
“I didn’t even know Pat at the time,†Garoppolo said. “For him to come out of his way after the game and wish me luck and everything, just a real class act. The guy is awesome on the field, off the field, he does it all.â€
It’s ironic that these two met under those circumstances and now will square off in Super Bowl 54. Garoppolo still has a lot of respect for the Kansas City superstar.
“For him to do something as simple as that, it went a long way,†Garoppolo said.
It seems as though we’ll be in for a treat during Super Bowl 54 with the 49ers having arguably the league’s best defense and the Chiefs being an offensive juggernaut. It’ll be a classic showdown between an elite defense and offense led by quarterbacks trying to cement their legacy as two of the best in the NFL for many years to come.
