49ers players shower Jimmy Garoppolo with praise after third straight win

Since Jimmy Garoppolo became the starting quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers, the storied NFL franchise has been undefeated. Garoppolo has helped lead the team to wins over the Chicago Bears, Houston Texans, and most impressively, against the Tennessee Titans.

With Garoppolo proving to be the difference for the 49ers, the teammates of the quarterback newcomer have nothing but high praise for Tom Brady’s former backup, via Eric Branch of the San Francisco Chronicle.

“I knew he was a great player; we all did,” guard Brandon Fusco said. “We didn’t know he was this special.”

In four games, one of which he threw two passes, Garoppolo has racked up 1,026 yards and three touchdowns with three wins to show for it. Although the 49ers are out of playoff contention, the quarterback’s impressive play has his teammates excited for the future and upset they are in the hunt for the playoffs this year as they feel they could do some damage with Garoppolo at the helm, via Branch.

“I wish we were playing for a playoff spot,” left tackle Joe Staley said, “because I really think we could carry some momentum and do some damage if he got in the playoffs.”

Despite what will be a lost season, the 49ers have an opportunity to end the year on a high note with Garoppolo putting the league on notice that San Francisco may be a force to be reckoned with in the near future.

The NFC West seems to be going through a potentially drastic shift with the 49ers and Los Angeles Rams on the rise and the dominant Seattle Seahawks on their way down along with the Arizona Cardinals. Things could get interesting in the division in the years to come.
