49ers QB Jimmy Garoppolo says his mistakes are ‘fixable’

The San Francisco 49ers were able to get off to a strong start to their 2019 season by moving past the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 31-17 in Week 1 action.

However, it saw 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo continue to go through the motions with a performance that had its fair share of ups and downs as he completed 18-of-30 passes for 166 yards, a touchdown, and an interception. This is something that Garoppolo has voiced a great deal of confidence that he will be able to work through all the kinks and struggles, according to Eric Branch of the San Francisco Chronicle.

“There are things to correct,” Garoppolo said. “I missed a couple of throws I wish I could have had back. Little things. They’re fixable, too. You just have to learn from them week to week and keep progressing.”

Garoppolo is still making his way back from a surgically-repaired torn ACL that he suffered early in the 2018 season. He hasn’t experienced any setbacks along the way and made his way back onto the field in training camp without any physical limitations or hindrances.

However, this may simply be him regaining that confidence in the physical ability of his knee and get his body in better condition to perform at a high level. He has had his struggles along the way, which was evident in Week 1 with a terrible decision that led to an easy pick-six for Buccaneers defensive back Vernon Hargreaves.

Week 2 action against the Cincinnati Bengals will provide him another opportunity to shake up the rust and continue to improve his game.
