49ers superstar George Kittle knows his worth as a player

The San Francisco 49ers have become a powerhouse in the NFL. The team’s rise has seen star tight end George Kittle be a significant part of that push.

That has navigated the situation toward him being on pace to earn a lucrative extension from the 49ers soon. According to ESPN, Kittle is looking to land a deal that would make him more than just the highest-paid tight end in NFL history.

George Kittle and the San Francisco 49ers haven’t made much progress on a new contract. His agent says he is looking for more than a deal that makes Kittle the highest-paid TE in the NFL.

“I don’t care about the tight end market,” Kittle’s agent, Jack Bechta, told NFL Network. “I’m being paid to do a George Kittle deal.”

Kittle has put forth an impressive start to his NFL career. As a result, he’s become one of the top talents at his position over the last two seasons. That has seen him earn back-to-back Pro Bowl selections, including setting the all-time single-season receiving yards mark (1,377) for a tight end and is the first 49ers’ tight end to record 1,000 receiving yards in a campaign.

The 26-year-old is currently slated to make $735,000 in 2020, which will be the final year of his rookie deal. Austin Hooper signed the largest contract for a tight end this offseason on a four-year, $42 million deal with the Cleveland Browns. Meanwhile, Hunter Henry is inked to a franchise tag worth $10.6 million for the 2020 season.

The 49ers may not be close to a new deal with Kittle, but it’s hard to imagine that he won’t become the highest-paid tight end and possibly much more than that.
