49ers won’t be wearing throwback jerseys during Super Bowl 54

The San Francisco 49ers are relishing in their massive accomplishment of reaching the Super Bowl for the first time in six years.

One of the next minor tasks at hand is deciding what uniform that will wear for the contest next month. With that in mind, the 49ers clarified that they will not wear their all-white throwbacks for the game, according to Charean Williams of Pro Football Talk.

The 49ers may have wanted to wear their all-white throwbacks for Super Bowl LIV. They won’t.

The team confirmed Monday, via NFL Media, that it will wear its traditional road attire.

Kansas City will be the home team for the contest, which they chose to don their dark jerseys, which San Francisco will roll with wearing their white jerseys and gold pants in the game.

The talk around the all-white jerseys for the 49ers stemmed after a report surfaced that the team put in a request to the league to use them. It’s the same uniform that the franchise wore when they won Super Bowl XXIX.

Although there was plenty of fan support for the team to go that route, it ultimately did not unfold in that manner. It shouldn’t overshadow in any means the 49ers being one win away from hoisting the Lombardi trophy for the sixth time in franchise history.

It will be a tough challenge against the Kansas City Chiefs, led by star quarterback Patrick Mahomes. The next two weeks will be filled with storylines heading into what could be a highly entertaining game.
