Aaron Donald Takes Another Major Step Toward Potential Rams Comeback
With each passing day, the conversation around the Los Angeles Rams remains largely on the potential comeback out of retirement of star defensive tackle Aaron Donald.
The noise has only grown louder as time has passed, especially with the three-time Defensive Player of the Year participating in another workout with the team.
Head coach Sean McVay has said that Donald has “earned” the ability to make his own decisions, but added that he hopes to get an answer on that end sooner rather than later.
“I know he’s feeling good and he will continue to work out and I’m hopeful that we’ll have some answers on that sooner than later for you guys,” McVay said via ESPN.
Although the Rams are taking the patient approach with Donald’s possible comeback attempt, the clock is ticking on him to make a decision. The organization wants to know if he’s in or out ahead of the 2026 season, which the season opener against the San Francisco 49ers in Australia lies roughly three weeks away.

The Rams are keeping the entire process close to their vest, but the further this situation progresses, the more likely it looks that he will indeed return. The possible prospect of Donald playing alongside the reigning Defensive Player of the Year in Myles Garrett could be too appealing for him to pass up.
Time will tell what will unfold, but it’s only appearing to be an inevitable path of seeing Donald back in the fold with the Rams for the 2026 season.
