Aaron Rodgers expects to play at a ‘high level’ for Jets next season

Star quarterback Aaron Rodgers is heading into his second campaign with the New York Jets with tremendous expectations laid ahead of him and the franchise.

Rodgers’s first year in New York ended on his fourth official snap after he tore his Achilles tendon. All that has set the stage for a 2024 campaign that has the makings of a comeback season, with eyes toward Super Bowl contention.

The four-time league MVP embraced that notion by placing lofty expectations on himself in returning to perform at an elite level.

“You might not say it, but as you get older in the league, if you don’t perform, they’re going to get rid of you or bring in the next guy to take over,” Rodgers said via ESPN. “I mean, it happened in Green Bay, and I’m a few years older than I was back then.

“I expect to play at a high level. I expect us to be productive and competitive and all that stuff to take care of itself.”

After the Jets went all out for Rodgers last offseason, the front office has done that again but upped the ante by bringing in proven talent such as All-Pro left tackle Tyron Smith, wide receiver Mike Williams, and Pro Bowl edge rusher Haason Reddick.

All hands are on deck in New York, and Rodgers is leading the way. The organization appears fully confident that the future first-ballot Hall of Famer can be the clear-cut guiding charge in a championship push.
