Aaron Rodgers’ immediate future with Jets remains uncertain
With the New York Jets hiring former Detroit Lions defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn as the next head coach, the next situation that needs to be addressed concerns star quarterback Aaron Rodgers’ future.
The four-time league MVP said his tenure in New York would be determined by the franchise’s next head coach hire. However, Glenn has said that the team focuses on addressing the needs of the entire roster, not just under center.
“This thing is not about Aaron Rodgers, folks. This is about the roster,” Glenn said via ESPN. “We plan on building the best roster that we can. So, whatever that may be — guard, tackle, defensive tackle — that’s what we’re evaluating.
“Listen, everybody’s under the microscope. That’s just what it is.”
Glenn did add that he exchanged text messages with Rodgers and hopes to speak with him soon. However, there was no other dialogue about the star quarterback.

Meanwhile, new general manager Darren Mougey stated that the team remains uncertain regarding Rodgers’ future.
“First and foremost, I’ve got the utmost respect for Aaron Rodgers and what he’s done in this league as a player,” said Mougey. “[He’s] one of the greatest of all time to play the position — one of the greatest players of all time.
“I know Aaron has his process in the offseason that he goes through. We have ours. But, yeah, that [decision] is going to come. I don’t have a timeline on it.”
The Jets clearly don’t have any clarity about Rodgers’s return for the 2025 season despite having one more year left on his contract. That said, New York will sort things out before the offseason gets underway.
