Aaron Rodgers, Jets will face 49ers in season opener of 2024 NFL season
After a disappointing 2023 season, the New York Jets are looking ahead to their second campaign with Aaron Rodgers primed to lead the charge.
The path will start with a Week Monday Night Football matchup on the road against the defending NFC champion San Francisco 49ers.
It will be the second straight year that the Jets will play in a marquee game in the opening week of the season. Rodgers holds a 6-3 record against the 49ers but struggled to move past them in the playoffs during his Green Bay Packers tenure.

Rodgers is tied to the 49ers, as he believed that the team could have selected him with the first overall pick in the 2005 draft, but the team instead chose Alex Smith.
Rodgers is more than motivated to showcase his talent as he’s coming off a torn Achilles tendon that he suffered on the fourth snap of the season opener last season.
Meanwhile, Jets head coach Robert Saleh will face the team he previously coached for as he held the defensive coordinator position before leaving for New York in 2021.

The Jets have taken the all-in approach with Rodgers, adding proven talent in free agency such wide receiver Mike Williams, left tackle Tyron Smith, guard Josh Simpson, defensive tackle Javon Kinlaw, and traded for edge rusher Haason Reddick.
The 49ers are looking to build off their deep playoff run last season, where they fell just short in Super Bowl 58 against the Kansas City Chiefs.
