Aaron Rodgers will be ‘respectful’ to Packers in decision process

The Green Bay Packers’ disappointing divisional round playoff exit has quickly shifted the attention over star quarterback Aaron Rodgers’ future.

Rodgers is expected to have increased control over his fate after restructuring his contract last offseason. The three-time league MVP has voiced that he doesn’t plan on stretching out the decision-making process.

During an interview on “The Pat McAfee Show” on Tuesday, Rodgers dropped a hint by stating he wanted to see what unfolds with Davante Adams first.

“I’d like to be respectful of the organization,” Rodgers said via ESPN. “One decision that will be upcoming will be obviously Davante and his future with the team. There still is this thing called a franchise tag, which I don’t think ’17’ wants the franchise.

“I think that should be enough time to make a decision by then. I don’t want to put myself on a specific date, but I do want to be sensitive to Davante and many other guys who have decisions to make on their own futures. To drag it out past free agency would be disrespectful to the organization and to those guys, and that 100 percent will not happen.”

The Packers are expected to franchise tag the star wideout for the 2022 campaign, extending the window to work out a lucrative extension. Rodgers wants to see the organization’s offseason moves first before committing to the franchise.
