Adrian Peterson says he still feels young and is ‘ready to play ball’

Former star running back Adrian Peterson continues to prove to be an ageless wonder.

Despite that, the future Hall of Famer remains unsigned, looking to extend his career to a 15th season. Earlier this week, Peterson voiced he’s feeling strong physically and is ready for any team to give him a chance.

“The training is going well and I’m going to control the things that I can control right now, and, when that time comes, somebody will give me a call,” Peterson said, via Aaron Wilson of SportsTalk 790. “That’s all I’m asking for. My body feels good. I came out healthy from last season. My body feels strong. I still feel young. I still feel good. I’m ready to play ball.”

Adrian Peterson is coming off a productive 2020 season with the Detroit Lions, where he rushed for 605 yards along with seven rushing touchdowns. He is currently 449 yards behind Barry Sanders for fourth place on the all-time.

The 36-year-old has voiced that he wants to extend his career to his 40s as he proves to be an effective runner. He may not be the talent he once was, but he’s demonstrated durability along with remaining a strong goal-line option.

His next opportunity may arrive after a team either suffers an injury or needs an extra push in the backfield. Peterson can be a reliable piece to any offense regardless of the size of the role.

The question remains where that next opportunity will come for Peterson in the 2021 season.
