Anthony Richardson listed as doubtful for Colts vs. Jaguars
The Indianapolis Colts are coming off perhaps the best of their two wins to start the 2024 NFL regular season, with the team handing the Pittsburgh Steelers their first loss of the season, which was a surprising result, especially with second-year quarterback Anthony Richardson unable to finish the game.
Richardson was dealing with an oblique injury, which paved the way for veteran backup Joe Flacco to take over. Flacco actually had a better game than Richardson, as he was able to do enough in order to propel the Colts to victory over arguably the best defense in the NFL, led by superstar linebacker TJ Watt.

Unfortunately for Richardson, the oblique injury has lingered leading up to Week 5’s divisional matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars. The injury is bad enough at this point that the team is listing him as doubtful for Sunday’s game, according to Stephen Holder of ESPN.
Indianapolis Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson’s status for Sunday’s game has been downgraded to doubtful, making it unlikely the second-year player suits up against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
With Richardson still on the mend and potentially set to miss this game, the Colts will have to turn to Flacco again, who is more prepared to play this week than he was last week via ESPN.
“You really can’t grasp the difference until you’ve had to do it both ways,” Flacco said. “… Just calling the play on a daily basis. We just did a walk-through. I got to call all the plays. And you go have practice, you get to call the plays. That little bit right there, [you’re] much more familiar with the game plan.”
It’ll be interesting to see if Flacco can keep playing at a high level and able to take down the Jaguars, which would result in the team being over .500 at 3-2, improving their chances of being a force to be reckoned with in the AFC South division title race.
