Bengals superstar Joe Burrow considering teammates during contract talks
Cincinnati Bengals star quarterback Joe Burrow has quickly become one of the league’s best quarterbacks.
Burrow’s swift rise has unsurprisingly led to significant attention toward his next contract with the Bengals. He is in the fourth year of his rookie contract with the fifth-year option already picked up.
However, Cincinnati and Burrow are working toward securing for the foreseeable future ahead. The 26-year-old has remained tight-lipped about the ongoing extension talks, but did voice that he has his teammates in mind.

“Whenever you have guys on the team that need to be paid, that’s always on your mind,” Burrow said via ESPN. “You want that to be a focal point. We’re working to make that happen.”
Burrow is in line to become one of the league’s highest-paid players, especially after guiding the Bengals to a Super Bowl appearance and two AFC championship games over the last two seasons.
He can likely command a contract that could contend with Lamar Jackson’s five-year, $260 million deal or Jalen Hurts’ five-year, $255 million extension. Burrow has more than proven that he is the franchise cornerstone that Cincinnati wants to build its future around.

At the same time, he is well aware that any lucrative deal will limit the Bengals’ spending power to retain or add more talent around him to keep them in Super Bowl contention yearly. Burrow wants to compete for championships and his next contract will show how much he values that.
