Bills trade veteran wide receiver Stefon Diggs to Texans

After much speculation throughout much of the offseason, the Buffalo Bills have moved on from star wide receiver Stefon Diggs.

The Bills traded the Pro Bowl wideout alongside a 2024 sixth-round pick, and a 2025 fifth-round selection to the Houston Texans in exchange for a 2025 second-round pick.

“I want to thank Stef for four really good seasons,” Bills general manager Brandon Beane said Wednesday via ESPN. “… Really appreciate everything he brought to the team, was a big part of us winning four divisions. These moves are never easy. Very hard. Not made overnight or anything like that, but anytime you make a move like this … you’re trying to win, and sometimes people may not see that.

“This is by no means the Bills giving up or trying to take a step back or anything like that. Everything we do, we’re trying to win. And we’re going to continue to do that.”

The move happened a day after Diggs responded “You sure?” in reference to a social media post that stated that he didn’t play a huge part in quarterback Josh Allen’s success.

Despite all the off-the-field chatter, Diggs has established himself as one of the game’s top wide receivers. His addition to the Texans gives second-year quarterback C.J. Stroud a bonafide No.1 option in the passing game alongside an already promising young core offensive group.

Houston has been busy this offseason adding proven pieces such as trading for running back Joe Mixon and then signing him to a three-year, $27 million extension. The Texans also signed star pass rusher Danielle Hunter to a two-year, $49 million deal.
