Broncos acquire WR Jaylen Waddle in trade with Dolphins

The Miami Dolphins are going through some drastic changes during this NFL offseason, with the team parting ways with head coach Mike McDaniel, quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, star Tyreek Hill and now wide receiver Jaylen Waddle.

According to Jeff Legwold and Marcel Louis-Jacques of ESPN, the Dolphins are sending Waddle to the Denver Broncos in a blockbuster trade.

The Denver Broncos finally looked outside their own locker room to help their offense with a trade Tuesday to acquire wide receiver Jaylen Waddle from the Miami Dolphins, a source told ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

The source told Schefter the Broncos will receive Waddle as well as the Dolphins’ fourth-round pick (111th overall) while the Broncos will send their first-round pick (30th) as well as third- and fourth-round picks (94th and 130th) to Miami.

The Broncos and Dolphins are two teams in the AFC headed in opposite directions: Denver in win-now mode after reaching the AFC Championship Game last season, and Miami in a rebuilding phase, with quarterback Malik Willis as the face of the franchise moving forward.

Waddle was going to be the primary receiver in Miami, but the team clearly felt it was time to build up some draft capital in order to build around Willis in the draft.

Even though bringing in Willis could be a step in the right direction for the struggling franchise, the Dolphins clearly have no intention of making any noise during the 2026 NFL Draft and are thinking more about the team’s long-term future.

As for the Broncos, the team adds to the receiving corps, which now showcases the dynamic duo of Waddle and Courtland Sutton.
