Deshaun Watson – Broncos to pursue Texans star QB

The Houston Texans have made headlines on a daily basis since the end of the 2020 NFL season due to star quarterback Deshaun Watson expressing his displeasure with the direction of the franchise and his desire to be traded. Now it appears the Denver Broncos could be among the team to pursue the three-time Pro Bowler.

The Broncos were thought to be moving forward with Drew Lock as their starting quarterback after drafting him in 2019. Deshaun Watson is an obvious upgrade and game-changer for Denver if they can land him in a trade. As a result Lock’s time with the team could be over if Houston is intrigued by their trade package.

One thing that may prevent the Broncos from acquiring Watson along with a trade package that may not be good enough for the Texans is the fact that the star quarterback has a no-trade clause. He can veto any team that is put on the table, giving him leverage in the situation.

The Miami Dolphins and New York Jets have been rumored to be atop of Watson’s list of teams that could offer the best trade packages with high draft picks in the upcoming 2021 NFL Draft. The San Francisco 49ers have also been rumored to be a team of interest for Watson.

Last season, Waston threw for 4,823 yards, 33 touchdowns and seven interceptions. He also rushed for 444 yards and three touchdowns on 90 carries.
