Browns QB Shedeur Sanders tabbbed to replace Patriots’ Drake Maye

With the New England Patriots set to take on the Seattle Seahawks in Super Bowl LX, it pushes quarterback Drake Maye out of action for the Pro Bowl.

The NFL has quickly stepped in to find his replacement as Cleveland Browns quarterback, Shedeur Sanders, was selected to take his spot on the Pro Bowl Games roster.

“Thank you God. I’m beyond excited and extremely grateful for all the love and support from the coaches, players, and fans,” Sanders said in a statement via ESPN.

“This wouldn’t be possible without the support behind me. Still plenty of work to do.”

Sanders is coming off a mixed bag of a rookie campaign as he started the final seven games of the season for the Browns. He finished with 1,400 passing yards with seven touchdown passes to 10 interceptions and held a 56.6 percent completion rate while also rushing for 169 yards on 21 attempts with one touchdown.

The other originally selected quarterbacks were Buffalo Bills’ Josh Allen and Los Angeles Chargers’ Justin Herbert.

The selection of Sanders raised some eyebrows as he was not even chosen as an alternate for the Pro Bowl. His performance in his rookie season didn’t exactly warrant him to receive the opportunity to play as a replacement for the game.

However, it appears the NFL may have gone with bringing in a notable name to attract more eyeballs to the event. Sanders certainly does just that as an already polarizing figure in the league.
