Browns TE David Njoku’s top goal right now is to ‘stay healthy’

The Cleveland Browns have put together one of the more talented offenses in the league.

Although that hasn’t entirely equated to consistent success on the field, the team has garnered some promising players like tight end David Njoku. The veteran tight has voiced that he believes the “sky is the limit” if he can stay healthy. (H/T Josh Alper of Pro Football Talk)

“My No. 1 goal is to stay healthy,” Njoku said, via the team’s website. “If I can stay healthy, the sky is the limit. It’s going to be special. We have all the tools here, and we have a great coach, so we’re really excited to put it all together.”

Njoku has been one of the key pieces to the Browns’ offense but has struggled to stay healthy over an entire season. That was certainly the case in 2019 as he played in just four games, which is the polar opposite of what he experienced in his first two seasons as he played in all 32 regular-season games.

During that span, he tallied 85 catches for 1,025 yards and eight touchdowns. Njoku has continued to become a more significant threat down the field and in the red zone. However, the Browns added more depth to the position this offseason with Austin Hooper, who could overtake him as the primary target at the position.

The 2020 season is a chance to prove that he can be a significant factor behind staying healthy throughout the campaign. Njoku is also heading into the fourth year of his rookie deal.
