Bucs HC Todd Bowles ‘definitely’ wants Baker Mayfield back
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers fell short in the divisional playoff round against the Detroit Lions, but that looks to have secured quarterback Baker Mayfield’s future.
After the loss, head coach Todd Bowles strongly indicated that he wants Mayfield to return next season.
“He most definitely has,” Bowles said of Mayfield via ESPN.”Obviously, it’s too early to talk about that and business is business, but Baker had a hell of a year. We love him. The guys love him. And we’ll see what the future holds.”

Mayfield inked a one-year deal last offseason hoping to jumpstart his NFL career. The move looks to have paid off as he quickly latched on in Tampa Bay by guiding them to the divisional playoff round.
The veteran quarterback voiced a strong desire to stay in Tampa Bay.
“I love this group,” said Mayfield. “I said that all year. And it’s authentic. I mean that. It would mean a lot for me, to bring back a lot of key pieces, to get this back together, to get it to Year 2 in the system, you can make huge strides. I would love that.
“Obviously, who knows how it’s going to play out, but I can’t say enough about this organization and the opportunity they gave me this year. Just thankful, and I hope it works out.”

The Buccaneers are reportedly expected to meet with Mayfield’s representatives in hopes of working out a new deal, which could see him earn a lucrative payday.
Beyond that, Tampa Bay looks to have found stability under center.
