Bucs QB Tom Brady explains his lengthy absence at training camp

Ahead of his 23rd season, Tampa Bay Buccaneers star quarterback Tom Brady has had a significant spotlight on him due to his extended absence from the team.

Brady has finally returned to the Buccaneers after being away for 11 straight days due to tending to personal matters. The future first-ballot Hall of Famer finally addressed the media concerning the situation and elected to keep the matter private.

“It’s all personal. Everyone’s got different situations they’re dealing with,” Tom Brady said via ESPN. “We all have really unique challenges to our life. I’m 45 years old, man. There’s a lot of s— going on. Just gotta try to figure out life the best you can. It’s a continuous process.”

Although the missed time in training camp does disrupt a bit of the flow before the 2022 season, Brady has more than enough experience to guide himself back on track.

One of the more unique challenges will be to build strong chemistry with offseason addition Julio Jones. The former All-Pro wideout is hoping to be a significant part of the offensive game plan, especially with Chris Godwin still recovering from his torn ACL.

Jones is also motivated to prove he has plenty left in the tank to perform at an elite level after an injury-plagued lone campaign with the Tennessee Titans. Meanwhile, the Buccaneers will move through the 2022 campaign without Pro Bowl center Ryan Jensen due to a season-ending injury.

Despite that, Tampa Bay has the pieces in place to make another run toward the Super Bowl.
