Bucs WR DeSean Jackson doesn’t deny asking to be traded

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers started the 2018 NFL season strong and the team seemed to be firing on all cylinders. They started well despite starting quarterback Jameis Winston suspended for the first four games of the year. Unfortunately, that success for the Bucs wasn’t sustainable. Now, they’ve quickly spiralled out of control. As a result,  star wide receiver DeSean Jackson wants out of Tampa Bay.

Jackson recently asked the team to trade him before the NFL trade deadline as he had grown tired of losing. However, the Bucs kept him beyond the deadline. Now, he’ll have to play out the rest of the season with Tampa Bay whether he likes it or not. When asked about the trade request, Jackson didn’t deny that he had made it, via Eduardo Encina of the Tampa Bay Times.

“Whatever them conversations were, they were between us,” Jackson said when asked if he spoke to general manager Jason Licht to request a trade. “It’s over and done with now, and I’m looking forward. We’ve got eight games left to continue to try our best to get in the playoffs and win here.”

Heading into Week 10, the Bucs are sitting at 3-5 on the season. Additionally, they are in last place in the highly competitive NFC South division. The New Orleans Saints (7-1) are in first place in the division and may run away with the division title unless the Carolina Panthers (6-2) can knock them off their pedestal.

Despite a poor start to the season, the Atlanta Falcons (4-4) have gotten back into the playoff hunt while the Bucs try to stay afloat after losing five of their last six games.
