Cam Newton shares his thoughts after reunion with Panthers

After sitting in free agency through the first nine weeks of the 2021 season, three-time Pro Bowler Cam Newton is back with the Carolina Panthers.

Sam Darnold’s shoulder injury that will force him to miss four to six weeks presented the opportunity to return to the Carolina Panthers. Newton inked a contract for the rest of the year worth up to $10 million.

The 32-year-old has voiced his appreciation for the opportunity to play for the franchise he spent his nine seasons.

“Were there disconnects in the past? It’s irrelevant,” Newton said via ESPN. “The fact that we’re able to make what may seem a lot of wrongs or some wrongs right, that’s the most exciting thing about it.

“To hell with feelings. It would be the biggest right and wrong by just winning football games.”

Newton realizes the golden opportunity that lies ahead to reignite his NFL career. His rough lone season with the New England Patriots did not go to plan. He hoped to re-establish himself in New England, but his brief tenure featured many ups and downs.

After a promising showing in the first few weeks of last season, he struggled to find his footing passing the ball. All that led to him being benched then later receiving the starting job back.
