Cardinals are expected to part ways with coach Steve Wilks

The Arizona Cardinals are limping their way to the finish line this season. The once-promising team led by veteran wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald wasn’t able to put it together in 2018 and now it appears they’ll be parting ways with head coach Steve Wilks once the season is over.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Cardinals are expected to fire Wilks.

The Arizona Cardinals are planning to part ways with head coach Steve Wilks, according to sources, the next likely move in what is shaping up to be the most chaotic head-coaching cycle since 2013, when there were eight changes.

Wilks could be one of many coaches sent packing once the 2018 regular season is officially over. The Green Bay Packers have already parted ways with Mike McCarthy and few others like New York Jets head coach Todd Bowles and Vance Joseph of the Denver Broncos might also be fired.

In Week 16, the Cardinals will take on the NFC heavyweight Los Angeles Rams who will be looking to clinch a first-round bye. Arizona has only three wins coming into this matchup and will likely be headed for a 12th loss on the season.

If the Cardinals lose this matchup against the Rams and fall to the Seattle Seahawks in the regular-season finale, the team will finish with their worst record since the team moved to Arizona back in 1988.

Along with the Cardinals almost certainly parting ways with Wilks, it remains to be seen whether Fitzgerald wants to return. The superstar seriously contemplated retirement before the 2018 campaign and may call it a career after this season.
