Cardinals star Kyler Murray downplays confrontation with Kliff Kingsbury

The Arizona Cardinals grabbed a much-needed win on Thursday night after toppling the New Orleans Saints.

However, the performance didn’t go without some controversy. Quarterback Kyler Murray was seen visibly arguing with head coach Kliff Kingsbury in the first half.

The camera caught Murray yelling “calm the f**k down” to Kingsburgy with roughly over two minutes left in the first half after a timeout was called. Following the game, the Cardinals’ star quarterback downplayed the incident with his head coach.

“The clock was running down and we couldn’t have got off the play that we were trying to run,” Murray said via ESPN. “So, it was, I guess it’s my fault. I’ll take it.”

Kingsbury added that the optics of the situation didn’t look good due to his fiery emotions.

“He said I didn’t look good on TV acting that fiery,” Kingsbury quipped. “I don’t know, guess it’s a Gen Z thing. ‘You’re on TV so calm down.’

“I like showing emotion.”

The Cardinals have had their disappointing struggles through the first seven weeks but sit only a game back of first place in the NFC West at a 3-4 record. The performance of their offense with DeAndre Hopkins back was an encouraging sign.
