Cardinals star Patrick Peterson apologizes for PED suspension

A major shocker around the league hit on earlier this week as Arizona Cardinals star cornerback Patrick Peterson was handed down a six-game suspension for violating the league’s performance-enhancing drugs policy.

In response to this huge news, Peterson voiced his disappointment in the situation but was encouraged that he can move past it entirely now with the focus on his return to the field, according to Josh Weinfuss of ESPN.

“Definitely, definitely sorry what broke out today. … I think you guys understand my character and also understand my commitment on and off the field, and also to my teammates and also to the Arizona Cardinals organization,” Peterson said. “That’s why this is apparently very, very hard for me ’cause obviously I’ve never been in this situation before and I never wanted to have my name attached to anything like this.

“I’m looking to move forward and put this behind me. I want to thank my family, my teammates, the coaching staff, the Arizona Cardinals community and also the organization. And I’m looking forward to getting back Week 7. I’m going to continue to try to keep that smile on my face and get back to being the best DB in the league.”

This is the first time in his career that Peterson has been popped for this suspension. There had previously been no chatter around this being a potential possibility.

Instead, Peterson had a strong reputation around the league for being one of the top players in the NFL at his position. This now puts a bit of an asterisk by his name, but he has quickly come out to take ownership of his poor decision.

Ultimately, this is a situation where Peterson is going to let it unfold on its own.
