CFL Kicks Off This Weekend

montrealwinnipegcfl-wrFor those of you who only like to be on football, your wait is over. The Canadian Football League kicks off this weekend. The CFL is down to only eight teams now, which makes following them fairly easy. That’s only four games per weekend, unless there are teams with bye weeks, then there is only three.

Bovada has your odds including player props and futures for the CFL. You can also catch some of the games on the NBC Sports Network including Thursday Night’s season opener between the Montreal Alouettes and the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.

“So how do we know who0 to pick?” you ask. Well, you don’t really at first. But how is that much different from the NFL? The first two or three weeks you are going off of last year there too. It’s after everyone has played three or four games that you have enough info to go on. There you have 30 teams to keep up with also. Here you have eight. If you want last year’s results, that is easy enough.

In the West Division, the B. C. Lions were 13-5, the Calgary Stampeders went 12-6, the Saskatchewan Rough Riders were 8-10 and the Edmonton Eskimos were 7-11. In the East Division the Alouettes went 11-7, the Toronto Argonauts were 5-9, the Blue Bombers and the Hamilton Tiger-Cats both went 6-12. There, now you have as much to go on as you will when the NFL starts. Here are the odds on this week’s games:

Montreal at Winnipeg– Montreal is -4 and Winnipeg +4 EVEN. Over/Under is 52 with over -105 and -115.

Hamilton at Toronto– Hamilton is +4.5 and Toronto -4.5 EVEN. Over/Under is 55 with over and under both -110.

B. C. at Calgary– B. C. is +3 and Calgary -3 EVEN. Over/Under is 52 with over -105 and under -115.

Saskatchewan at Edmonton– Saskatchewan is -1 and Edmonton is +1 EVEN. Over/Under is 50 with over -105 and under -115.

These teams all played two preseason games. Looking at those results, we have to think that Winnipeg is terrible. They lost in the first game to Toronto 24-6 and then to Hamilton 52-0. So we would advise picking Montreal and taking the under on Thursday. What else jumps out at us in the preseason? Only that the rest of the games were very close. So for the other three games, we suggest taking the points. The only exception may be the Rough Riders-Eskimos game where the home team is only -1. We would take Edmonton -1 in that game.

Happy Football Season Everyone!!
