Chargers star RB Austin Ekeler ruled out for matchup with Titans in Week 2

The Week 1 showdown between the Los Angeles Chargers and Miami Dolphins turned out to be as advertised. The NFL’s two best offenses enjoyed a shootout.

It was fun to see these two potent offenses going at it to start the 2023 NFL season. Although, it came at a cost for the Chargers, as they lost the game to the Dolphins. Additionally, they also saw some of their best players get injured.

Perhaps the biggest blow for the Chargers was Ekeler suffering an ankle injury that has turned out to be bad enough that he’ll miss Week 2 against the Tennessee Titans, according to Dan Greenspan of ESPN.

Los Angeles Chargers running back Austin Ekeler and linebacker Eric Kendricks have been ruled out for Sunday’s game at the Tennessee Titans, while outside linebacker Joey Bosa is questionable.

All three players were injured in the season-opening 36-34 loss to the Miami Dolphins on Sunday. Ekeler hurt an ankle, and Kendricks and Bosa each suffered hamstring injuries.

Along with losing arguably the team’s best offensive weapon, the Chargers losing linebacker Erik Kendricks for Week 2 is costly as well. Joey Bosa already being banged up is not ideal either. Bosa has struggled with injuries over the injuries, and dealing with a hamstring injury can be tricky.

Fortunately for Los Angeles, Justin Herbert and company might be able to get by in Week 2 against the lowly Titans, as Tennessee didn’t look all that good in their season opener against Derek Carr and the New Orleans Saints.
