Chase Young posted a picture of his contract signing on social media on Thursday morning. It’s a four-year deal for the edge rusher and Washington has an option for a fifth season that would come with a fully guaranteed salary if it is exercised.

It shouldn’t come as a surprise that Washington agreed to a deal at this point in the offseason. It takes away any other potential distractions that could arise from the contract talks lingering longer than it should.

Washington is hoping that Young could become a long-term piece to the puzzle. Young was touted as one of the top prospects in his draft class. The former Ohio State has the chance to carve out a significant role in his first campaign with his team to make an impact like his former teammate Nick Bosa did with the San Francisco 49ers.

Young flashed plenty of promise at the collegiate level as he tallied 26.5 sacks and 35.5 tackles for losses over the last two seasons. Washington will provide him every opportunity to shine as the team is in rebuild mode. Only time will tell what kind of talent he will be in the NFL.
