Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes grateful to get ‘extra week’ to heal up
The Kansas City Chiefs will head into Super Bowl 57 with plenty of questions still surrounding star quarterback Patrick Mahomes’ health.
Mahomes managed to work through a high ankle sprain to guide the Chiefs past the Cincinnati Bengals in the AFC championship game. All that keeps the scrutiny fixated on the All-Pro quarterback’s ankle, which he voiced the extra week off before the Super Bowl has helped his ankle situation.

“You’re in the treatment room as much as possible. You’ve got to make sure you get your rehab in. You’ve got to make sure you get the mobility right, everything like that. Lucky to have an extra week, that helps out a ton. You’re just trying to get whatever you can, to be as close as you can to 100 percent by game day,†Mahomes said via Pro Football Talk.
Mahomes won’t be near fully healthy, but another week to get medical treatment and rest will allow him to move around more effectively. The Philadelphia Eagles will be sure to test it with their pass rush, which could dictate the outcome of the game.
