Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes is favored to win NFL MVP

The Kansas City Chiefs are coming off their first Super Bowl win five decades that was led by star quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

That set the bar higher for the 2020 season as the Chiefs head into the campaign as the defending champions. It has also put tremendous expectations ahead of Mahomes, who has been pinned by Las Vegas as the early odds-on favorite to win the regular-season MVP award, according to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk.

Caesars Sportsbook has installed Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes as a 4-1 favorite to win the award.
Next on the list is Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson, the 2019 regular-season MVP. Jackson has 13-2 odds to win the award for a second straight year.

Through his first two years as the starter, Mahomes has guided the franchise to back-to-back AFC title appearances and their first Super Bowl win in 50 years. Although his production dropped in the regular season, he was still highly productive and efficient.

Keep in mind that he missed two games due to a dislocated kneecap. Mahomes will have stiff competition for the award that will see a highly motivated Lamar Jackson also looking to build off his historic 2019 campaign.

Christian McCaffrey could also factor into the equation as he put forth an impressive season that earned him much consideration for the MVP award. Beyond that, it looks to be Mahomes’ award to lose as he has all the momentum to grab his second MVP award in his first four years in the league.
