“Just reaggravated it a little bit there in the first half and then got stepped on in the second half,” Mahomes said. “Obviously, it’s going to be a little sore tomorrow.”

The Chiefs struggled to get any fluidity from their offense against the Colts, recording 18 first downs while going 1-of-3 on red-zone trips. Mahomes completed 22-of-39 passes for 321 yards with a touchdown along with rushing for 17 yards on three attempts.

Indianapolis controlled the pace of the game, possessing the ball for 37 minutes while holding a 74-57 edge in plays called. The Colts dictated the flow of the contest that limited the effectiveness of the Chiefs’ explosive offense.

Kansas City will likely monitor Mahomes’ activity in practice while lighten his workload in the days ahead of Week 6 action against the Houston Texans. It’s an injury that can be managed through the course of the week to get him back on track to perform at an MVP level.

Mahomes is putting up another stellar campaign as he leads the league with 1,831 passing yards, tied for second with 11 touchdown passes, and third with a 114.7 passer rating.
