Chiefs release star RB Kareem Hunt after controversial video surfaces
After a video surfaced on Friday of Kansas City Chiefs running back Kareem Hunt getting into a physical confrontation with a woman, the AFC West leaders decided to make a move that was surprising yet necessary. The team chose to part ways with the star back.
According to ESPN, the Chiefs have chosen to part ways with Hunt by releasing him on Friday not long after the video became public.
The Kansas City Chiefs have released star running back Kareem Hunt, a decision that came after video surfaced earlier Friday that showed him shoving and kicking a woman in February.
Although this was the right move and will likely set a precedent for NFL players moving forward that no one is above something like this, this is a devastating blow for the Chiefs who have one of the most prolific offenses in the league and have their sights set on competing for a Super Bowl this season.
Hunt has emerged as a legitimate star for Kansas City over the last two seasons and has become a vital part of the team’s offense. The loss of Hunt will definitely be felt by the team that will be hoping to come out on top of the AFC.
In 11 games this season for the Chiefs, Hunt has racked up 1,202 yards from scrimmage and 14 total touchdowns. He already surfaced his touchdown total from last season in five fewer games. Needless to say, Kansas City will have to adjust and figure out who will be picking up the slack after these unfortunate events.
