Chiefs’ Travis Kelce reveals plans for decision on retirement

As the Kansas City Chiefs prepare for the season finale against the Las Vegas Raiders, star tight end Travis Kelce’s NFL future sits as the prominent topic of discussion.

Throughout the year, Kelce has remained mum on whether he will return for the 2026 season. He voiced that he is undecided about whether he will extend his Hall of Fame career for another campaign.

“I just love this team,” Kelce said via ESPN. “I’m proud of the way we finished this, even though it ended the way it did. The guys still showed up and gave it their all. That’s all you can ask for, man.

“I’ve got so much love for this team, this organization and the people here. I’ll spend some time with them, go through exit meetings [Monday] and get close to the family and figure things out.”

Kelce will head into the offseason as a free agent, giving him complete control over his future in the NFL. IF he does play another season, it would likely only be with the Chiefs, where he has spent his entire career.

Although his production has remained below his Pro Bowl standards, he leads Kansas City in catches (76), targets (108), receiving yards (851), touchdowns (five), and receiving first downs (45).

The 2025 season featured several impressive career marks, including setting the franchise record with his 84th career touchdown. He also became the third tight end in league history to notch at least 13,000 receiving yards while accomplishing that in only 192 games, which was the quickest to reach that feat.
