C.J. Stroud Sends Strong Message After Texans Land Marvin Harrison Jr.

The Houston Texans have acquired former first-round pick wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. in a trade from the Arizona Cardinals.

The Texans moved a 2027 second-round pick and a 2027 sixth-round selection to the Cardinals in exchange for Harrison and a 2027 seventh-round pick.

He is scheduled to make roughly $4 million this season and $5.62 million in 2027. He also holds a fifth-year option coming up next offseason.

The 24-year-old’s time with the Cardinals quickly flamed out as his production didn’t match his expectations as the fourth overall pick of the 2024 NFL Draft.

He put forth a solid rookie campaign, where he posted 62 receptions for 882 receiving yards and eight touchdowns. However, his production has tailed off since then, as he had a lackluster 2025 campaign, with 41 catches for 608 receiving yards and four touchdowns in 12 games.

Things had taken a more discouraging turn through the first month of the 2026 season as he had five catches on 12 targets for 85 receiving yards and a touchdown. Harrison seemingly fell out of the loop as a primary offensive contributor, making him dispensable.

The Texans are hoping the reunion with his former Ohio State teammate quarterback C.J. Stroud can lead to tremendous success.

“He [is] a dynamic playmaker,” Stroud said via ESPN. “Somebody who runs great routes, someone who can catch really any ball, and I’m just super excited to get with him. I loved him in college. He’s probably the hardest worker I’ve ever been around in my life.”

TIme will tell if this the change of scenery that Harrison needed to get his career back on track.
