Clay Matthews requires surgery after softball facial injury
Green Bay Packers linebacker Clay Matthews took to social media on Saturday as a way to reassure fans that he’s okay after the former Pro Bowler took a ball off the face in a charity softball game on Saturday.
Matthews was taking part in teammate Davante Adams’ charity event at Fox Cities Stadium when this happened:

Following the game, Matthews noted on Twitter that he will soon have surgery on the broken nose he suffered in the freak accident. As Matthews stated, it could have been much more serious.
Thank you for all the concern and well-wishes. I busted my nose pretty good and will have surgery once the swelling subsides. Thankful as it could have been much more serious 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

Even then, maybe the Packers should bubble wrap their veteran linebacker for the remainder of the summer. Once something like this happens, there’s no way to know what might happen next.
