Colts Make Alec Pierce Decision Ahead of Week 1
Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Alec Pierce is expected to play in the season opener against the Baltimore Ravens.
“He should be good to go,” Head coach Shane Steichen said via ESPN. “We’ll get him some reps and practice this week, just like he took reps last week. He’s feeling really good.”
It has been a difficult offseason for Pierce as he’s worked his way back from ankle surgery that he underwent back in March. He had returned to practice on Aug. 27, which left the door open for him to be ready for Week 1 action.
Pierce needed just five practices to prove to the coaching staff that he can take the field against the Ravens.
The Colts have big plans for Pierce for the 2026 season after inking him to a four-year, $114 million contract in March. He is coming off a breakout campaign that saw him post career highs with 47 receptions for 1,003 receiving yards and six touchdowns.
He led the league with 21.3 yards per catch while proving to be one of the game’s top offensive big-play factors.

With Michael Pittman Jr. out of the picture, it opens up the opportunity for Pierce to play an even more significant role in the passing game. Offseason addition Keenan Allen also figures to be a prominent factor in the offensive game plan.
Time will tell how much of a role Pierce will play in the season opener after he missed the entire preseason due to his recovery.
