Colts had ‘no consideration’ to bench QB Phillip Rivers

During the NFL offseason, the Indianapolis Colts chose to make a bold move. The franchise signed former Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers to a short-term deal. The move was considered to be kind of an all-in shift, but it is already looking shaky with Rivers struggling.

In Week 5, the Colts lost to the upstart Cleveland Browns. Rivers had a forgettable performance that included two interceptions. One of those interceptions was returned for a touchdown.

The Colts are in the fortunate position of having a capable backup in Jacoby Brissett. Although he proved not to be the right players for Indianapolis last season or heading into this season, he has shown flashes of brilliance in the past and may only need a second chance to prove his worth to the franchise or another team in the league.

It might not be beyond the realm of possibility that the Colts are a Super Bowl title contender if Rivers can get his act together.
