Colts newcomer Carson Wentz feels ‘new passion for the game’ in Indy

The Indianapolis Colts changed the direction of the franchise after trading for former Pro Bowl quarterback Carson Wentz.

The move gives Wentz a fresh opportunity to reignite his NFL career. Before he begins his first season with the Colts, the 28-year-old voiced he has a renewed passion for the game.

“I really feel like I have a new passion for the game,” Wentz said, via Jonathan X. Simmons of the Indianapolis Star. “I’ve been high, I’ve been injured, I’ve been, now, benched, I’ve been traded, I’ve kinda seen a lot in five years, so whatever the game throws at me I’m ready.”

Wentz will have every opportunity to re-establish himself as one of the league’s top quarterbacks. Over his last two seasons, he’s struggled to find consistency throwing the ball, leading him to fall out of favor with the Philadelphia Eagles.

Despite his struggles, Wentz will have a clean slate in a promising situation behind one of the league’s best offensive lines and a strong defensive unit. He will work with his former offensive coordinator Frank Reich and current Colts head coach.

Indianapolis is hopeful that all of these qualities will lead to Wentz regaining the form that earned him the reputation as one of the game’s top young quarterbacks. He will have a strong running game to depend on with rising star running back Jonathan Taylor.

Meanwhile, he has a solid assortment of passing game talent with T.Y. Hilton, Michael Pittman Jr., Parris Campbell, and Jack Doyle. All that is left is for him to prove it on the field.
