Courtland Sutton: Broncos still have work to do after Russell Wilson trade
The Denver Broncos changed the course of the franchise after acquiring star quarterback Russell Wilson.
Wilson’s arrival immediately pushes significant expectations on the Broncos to potentially contend for much more than the playoffs. Star wide receiver Courtland Sutton voiced his excitement to play with the Pro Bowl quarterback.

“We’re so excited,” Sutton said Thursday on NFL Total Access via NFL.com. “Our room, an offense, team, we’ve had a lot of guys come in and contribute and every step that we’ve had, it’s been appreciated. But to be able to have Russ come in and, having the success that he’s had, having the knowledge that he has, for us as young guys, all the young talent that we have, that’s what we need. We need that guy that’s gonna come in and be, you know, him, who he is, what he already brings to the table. We’re excited.”
The pressure is on Sutton and the Broncos to step up to the increased expectations. The star wideout will play a significant offensive factor as one of Wilson’s primary passing game targets.
Denver has put together a well-rounded roster that just needed improved quarterback play. The Broncos had one of the league’s top defenses in 2021. Meanwhile, the team has a solid running game led by former Pro Bowler Melvin Gordon and Javonte Williams.

Meanwhile, Denver possesses a young and promising wide receiver group led by Sutton, Jerry Jeudy, and Tim Patrick. The biggest hurdle will be the team’s tough path in the stacked AFC West against the Kansas City Chiefs, Los Angeles Chargers, and Las Vegas Raiders.
Time will tell if Russell Wilson can be the missing piece for the Denver Broncos.
