Cowboys QB Dak Prescott doesn’t not have COVID-19

Things took a bit of an interesting turn on Monday as it was revealed that Dallas Cowboys star running back Ezekiel Elliott has tested positive for the coronavirus.

That immediately shifted the conversation over to the health of star quarterback Dak Prescott. This is due to the fact that the two recently had a small dinner gathering together. The concern was put to rest after Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network stated that Prescott is healthy. (H/T Charean Williams of Pro Football Talk)

However, Ian Rapoport of NFL Media, who broke news of Elliott’s positive test, said Prescott is healthy. It is unknown the last time the two worked out together or whether Prescott is in quarantine.

It crosses one concern off the list, but other Cowboys players reportedly have the virus aside from Elliott. Their focus should lie first with helping those players get the proper treatment to move past the illness. That overweighs any situation regarding their status with the team as it’s a personal health issue that could have a disastrous impact if not handled correctly.

Meanwhile, Prescott’s situation has remained the same with the franchise as he’s still without a new deal with the team. He’s set to play the 2020 season under the franchise tag if the two sides are unable to work out an extension before the July 15 deadline.

The expectation is that it will get hammered out at some point before the deadline, but there isn’t any clarity at this point when that will be. Until then, Prescott’s long-term future remains up in the air in Dallas.
