Cowboys, Steelers will play in the Hall of Fame Game this year

The 2020 season is still months away, but the league has already made some schedule decisions for the campaign. The NFL has put the Pittsburgh Steelers and Dallas Cowboys in the annual Hall of Fame game to open up the preseason. It’s an honor that Jerry Jones has a great deal of appreciation for his franchise being in the contest. (H/T Brooke Pryor of ESPN)

“We are very excited about being named to play in the Hall of Fame Game this year,” Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said. “When we learned that Jimmy Johnson would be involved in the August (and not September) ceremony in Canton, we approached the Hall of Fame and expressed a strong interest in being a part of honoring his legacy and induction by bringing our team and Cowboys fans to Canton.”

The Cowboys and Steelers each have representatives that will be inducted into the Hall of Fame this year. Pittsburgh has former head coach Bill Cowher and safety Troy Polamalu that will be enshrined two days following the game. Meanwhile, safety Donnie Shell will be inducted on Sept. 17 as one of the 10 seniors selected for the Centennial Celebration.

Meanwhile, the Cowboys have had former head coach Jimmy Johnson finally inducted into the Hall of Fame. Additionally, safety Cliff Harris will be enshrined in September. It has been a long time coming for Johnson to earn the honor, as many believed he was passed too often. The tickets for the Hall of Fame game will go on sale on March 13 at 10 a.m.
