Dak Prescott receives another contract offer from the Dallas Cowboys

Throughout the offseason, the focus around the Dallas Cowboys has been on the contract situation involving star quarterback Dak Prescott.

Following months of silence on the matter, things have picked up on that front over the last several days. According to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, the Cowboys have offered Prescott a lucrative deal that will pay him an average salary of $33 million a year.

Multiple reports emerged on Monday that the Cowboys have submitted another offer to quarterback Dak Prescott, in addition to the recently reported offer that has an average value of $33 million per year. Multiple sources tell PFT that there has been only one offer.

The offer, per one source, was made on March 2. The Cowboys have not recently made any other offer. It’s unclear whether Prescott’s camp has responded to the offer.

Other various reports suggest that they offer also includes $105 million guaranteed. The Cowboys’ willingness to offer Prescott that type of deal is instructive. It shows that they are hedging towards the contract demands that the 26-year-old has been pursuing.

The reason for the heightened push to get a deal done is the team’s desire to work out a new contract to avoid using the franchise tag on him this season. The deadline for that option on Thursday, which is quickly approaching and could see contract negotiations spike up another level in the coming days. If things fail to work out, expect the Cowboys to utilize the franchise tag on Prescott.
