Derek Carr reveals why Nelson Agholor had breakout season with Raiders
The Las Vegas Raiders headed into the 2020 campaign with high hopes of having a high-powered offense with a motivated Derek Carr under center.
Although the team didn’t perform as well as hoped, the one breakout star for the Raiders was veteran wide receiver Nelson Agholor, who had a career year with the team. Carr recently talked about Agholor’s incredible season in Las Vegas and what he believes led to the receiver’s success in silver and black, via Pro Football Talk.
“Sometimes a change of scenery is good for somebody. Sometimes a change of scenery doesn’t mean the player has changed, just means he fits better in that system or he fits better in that scheme or it just works out better for him,†Carr said. “Obviously this is a career year for him. I am so thankful for him. I tell him all the time I love that man so much. I’m so happy for him. He bet on himself, you know? He came here, bet on himself and it’s really worked out for him. I’m happy for him.â€
After five seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles, Agholor joined the Raiders and may have made the best decision of his professional career. Agholor has tied a career-high for touchdowns this season with eight and has well surpassed his highest receiving yards total with 839 ahead of the season finale.
It’ll be interesting to see whether Agholor and Carr have a long-term future together in Las Vegas as it is uncertain whether the franchise will shake things up during the offseason.
