Deshaun Watson Sends Message to Browns Fans Ahead of Week 3
The Cleveland Browns are heading into Week 3 action at home against the Carolina Panthers, hoping to ride the momentum of their first win of the season.
Former Pro Bowl quarterback Deshaun Watson is eyeing the support of the fans after a turbulent go-around the last time the team played at Huntington Bank Field on Aug. 22 for a preseason game against the Buffalo Bills.
It saw the fans boo Watson after he struggled in the second half of the game, leading him to say that the fans’ reaction was “personal” and “disrespectful.”
All that has led Watson to say that he is ready for the fan support this time around on Sunday.
“The biggest thing, I don’t [ever] try to go at war with the fans,” Watson said Wednesday via ESPN. “So, I think the biggest thing is [I’m] just ready for support, ready to feel their energy, ready to get this big [win] for the city of Cleveland and continue this great feeling that we have this week.”
Since joining the Browns, Watson hasn’t lived up to the high expectations as he’s dealt with significant injuries while his subpar play has dwindled fan support over the years. It has pushed things toward a seemingly make-or-break season for the 31-year-old in the final year of his contract with the Browns.

Watson is coming into Sunday’s game after guiding Cleveland to an upset on the road against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers that featured him completing 24 of 30 passes for 238 yards and two touchdowns, including the go-ahead touchdown.
If Watson hopes to win over the Browns fan base, it will solely depend on the team finding success with him under center.
