Dolphins ‘covet’ LSU QB Joe Burrow ahead of 2020 NFL Draft

The Miami Dolphins are coming off a tough season. 2019 saw them finish well out of the playoffs for the third straight year. However, it was one that didn’t see them finish with the worst mark in the league. As a result, they will not grab the coveted first overall pick.

Despite dropping their first seven games of the season, the Dolphins picked up momentum at the end of the year. The Dolphins won three out of their last five contest. Even with them unlikely to get a chance to nab LSU star quarterback Joe Borrow, the team still has their eyes on him, according to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk.

Per a league source, the Dolphins covet LSU quarterback Joe Burrow, the presumptive No. 1 overall pick in the 2020 draft.

That may be quite a difficult task for the Dolphins to snag Burrows at their current spot. There are already reports that the Cincinnati Bengals, who sit in the first overall pick, have no desire to trade back from their position and are set on taking the LSU product.

On top of that, Burrow is believed to be perfectly fine with going to the Bengals at the top of the draft. If there is any chance that Cincinnati even remotely considers dropping down, it would have to be a huge trade offer from Miami that could gut their several high draft picks over the next couple of years.

Beyond that, what this indicates is that the Dolphins have their eyes on taking a quarterback with their fifth overall pick.
