Dolphins will talk contract extension with Tua Tagovailoa in NFL offseason

Before promising young quarterback Tua Tagovailoa went down with a scary head injury last season, the Miami Dolphins star was making a lot of noise around the NFL as a potential candidate for MVP.

Tagovailoa seemed to have come into his own, especially with the addition of superstar wide receiver Tyreek Hill alongside fellow star Jaylen Waddle.

Unfortunately, the injury threw up a lot of red flags and the season was somewhat derailed by it, with no telling what the Dolphins would get out of the young quarterback on a long-term basis.

With Tagovailoa showing a lot of promise when healthy, he could be the face of the franchise for many years to come, and the team is willing to talk about the future, but after the season, according to general manager Chris Grier.

“I think just think for him, it’s just to let Tua play again,” Grier said, via Alain Poupart of SI.com. “Those things can be a big distraction, family, friends, you guys [the media], everyone constantly asking him about it. His agents and I have had discussions just general but not really about that and just kind of agreed, like, let’s just let him play out the season, and then we’ll attack that in the offseason.”

Hopefully for Tagovailoa’s sake and the sake of the franchise, he can stay healthy and productive during the 2023 NFL season and provide a bright future for Miami while potentially making a deep run in the playoffs.
