Eagles Address Jalen Hurts’ Future After Alarming Medical Discovery
Days after the Philadelphia Eagles placed star quarterback Jalen Hurts on the injured reserve, he is now expected to miss the rest of the season as doctors found more blood clots in his lungs.
Hurts has deep vein thrombosis and bilateral pulmonary emboli, which means a blood clot traveled from his legs to his lungs. He is expected to undergo treatment involving blood thinners that is expected to sideline him for at least three months.
“Jalen’s prognosis is very good, and we expect a full recovery,” the team statement read via ESPN. “We anticipate that he will have the opportunity to resume contact football activities when off the blood thinners. In the meantime, he will remain active around the team and continue to condition. More importantly, we anticipate that he will have no long-term effects.”
The situation is under much scrutiny as he was initially diagnosed with a superficial blood clot in his calf that was found the day before the Week 5 loss against the Jacksonville Jaguars at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London.

Hurts reportedly spent the night before the game in the hospital, returned to his hotel room at 3 am local time, and slept until the team left for the stadium at 10:30 am.
With Hurts out, the Eagles will continue to rely on Tanner McKee as the starter. In Sunday’s 25-14 home loss ot the Carolina Panthers, he completed 26 of 45 passes for 215 yards with a touchdown.
The Eagles sit at 2-4 heading into Week 7 against the Dallas Cowboys.
