Eagles confirm torn ACL for Carson Wentz who has been ruled out for the season

The team’s worst fears have come to fruition for the Philadelphia Eagles. After suffering a knee injury against the Rams on Sunday, quarterback Carson Wentz has been diagnosed with a torn ACL.

According to ESPN, Wentz’s sophomore season has come to an end as he been ruled out for the rest of the 2017 campaign for the Eagles.

Philadelphia Eagles star quarterback Carson Wentz has a torn ACL in his left knee and will miss the rest of the regular season and the postseason, coach Doug Pederson confirmed Monday.

Wentz walked off the field on his own power on Sunday. The knee injury didn’t seem to be severe or at least it felt like something he could bounce back from. However, that’s not the case, and now the Eagles will need to turn to veteran backup Nick Foles.

Futures

Although Foles is no stranger to the spotlight in Philadelphia, he’s not on the same level as Wentz. Philadelphia has gone from a force  in the NFC to a team that may struggle to win in the postseason.

As a result of the win over the Rams, the Eagles have clinched the NFC East division title and are playoff bound. Philadelphia is also sitting behind the Minnesota Vikings in the odds to win the NFC. It’ll be a tough path for the Eagles. How will they adjust from a legitimate NFL MVP candidate in Wentz to a journeyman in Foles?
